On the night of 16-17 of May 1943, 19 Royal Air Force Avro Lancasters had taken off to carry out a special operation - Chastise, also known in history books as Dambusters Raid. They successfully breached the Mohne and Eder Dams, furthermore damaging the Sorpe Dam, causing a massive disruption to Nazi war effort. During the operation Chastise, sadly 8 aircraft and 53 aircrew never returned home, with 3 crewman taken as POW’s.
To mark the heroism of the brave aircrew which took part in this historic mission, on the 80th anniversary, our team has made a special piece of memorabilia, up-cycled from a Lancaster bomber.
